Complaints Procedure

Last updated: 19 October 2026

We aim to give every patient a high standard of care. If something has fallen short of that, we want to hear about it. Telling us gives us the chance to put it right for you, and to make sure the same thing does not happen to someone else.

Raising a concern will never affect the way you are treated at this practice.

How to raise a concern

You can complain in whichever way you find easiest.

In person or by telephone01738 624 667, and ask to speak to our Practice Manager

If you would prefer to raise your concern with someone other than the person who treated you, please just say so. If you would like a friend, relative or advocate to complain on your behalf, we can accept that — we may need your written permission first, so that we can discuss your care with them.

If you need this procedure in another format, please ask and we will provide it.

What happens next

  1. We will acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days. We will confirm who is dealing with it and how we intend to look into it.
  2. We will investigate. That normally means speaking to the people involved and reviewing your clinical records. How long this takes depends on what has been raised.
  3. We will give you a full response within 20 working days. We will address each of the points you have raised, explain what we found, and set out what we propose to do about it. You will receive this in writing if you would like it in writing.
  4. If we need longer, we will tell you why, and we will keep you updated at least every 10 days until we have a full response for you.
  5. If you are not satisfied with our response, please tell us. We would rather look at it again ourselves before you take it further.

We keep a record of complaints separately from your clinical records, and we review them regularly to improve the way we work.

If you are still unhappy

If we cannot resolve things between us, you can ask an independent organisation to look at your complaint.

Dental Complaints Service

The Dental Complaints Service is run by the General Dental Council and helps patients and practices resolve complaints about private dental care anywhere in the UK, including Scotland. The service is free to use.

They ask that you raise your concern with the practice first, and they can normally only help if you contact them within 12 months of the treatment, or within 12 months of becoming aware that there was a problem.

General Dental Council

If your concern is about a dental professional's fitness to practise, rather than about the service you received, that is a matter for the General Dental Council itself.

If your concern is about your personal information

Complaints about how we handle your personal data follow a different route. Our Privacy Policy explains how to raise those with us and, if you remain unhappy, with the Information Commissioner's Office.
