What are Porcelain Dental veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain shells bonded to the front of teeth to conceal stains, misalignment, chips, and cracks. The versatility of porcelain veneers has made this treatment option increasingly popular.
Advantages of Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin shells bonded securely to the tooth, improving function and cosmetic appearance. The porcelain material is smooth and non-porous, making the veneers resistant to staining. Additionally, the porcelain material makes the veneers translucent, providing incredibly realistic results. The veneers are custom-crafted to blend seamlessly with surrounding teeth for the most natural, attractive results possible. Finally, porcelain veneers can last ten years or more with proper care.
Porcelain Veneers Candidates
If you are considering undergoing the porcelain veneers procedure, you will need to visit a dentist to be sure you are a good candidate for this treatment. The dentist will examine your teeth and review your needs to determine if porcelain veneers are the best solution for you. In general, patients with good oral health but cosmetic concerns such as chips, cracks, misalignment, or staining resistant to teeth whitening make good candidates for porcelain veneers.
Porcelain Veneers Procedure
To apply the porcelain veneers, a cosmetic dentist will first prepare the surface of the real tooth. This step involves removing a thin layer of enamel from the tooth’s outer surface to accommodate the bonding compound and the veneer itself. Then, the dentist will make impressions of the teeth used to create the veneers.
Temporary veneers will be applied while your permanent veneers are crafted. When the permanent veneers are ready, you will return to the dentist’s office to complete your procedure. The dentist will check the veneers to ensure they are a perfect fit and match the surrounding teeth. Then, the veneers will be bonded in place, and your treatment is complete.
Julia was not happy with the colour and had very heavily filled teeth. Julia had 10 Porcelain Laminate Veneers, 4 Crowns and Zoom Whitening.
“It may sound a bit cliche, but the results were life-changing for me. I’m much more confident now. People react more positively towards me, and I no longer hold my hand up to my mouth when laughing. I have a beautiful smile that I’m proud of!” Julia
