Dermal fillers and other injectable treatments are a quick and painless way to smooth the lines and wrinkles that occur naturally on the face due to ageing or exposure to environmental stressors.
How do dermal fillers work?
- Dermal fillers are used generally on the lower portion of the face.
- Dermal fillers are not used to relax muscles but to plump, hydrate, volumise, shape and contour the skin.
- Dermal fillers are used in a variety of ways. The production levels of collagen and elastin in our skin decrease when we reach our late 20s. Our skin is considered to be ageing from as early as when we are 30 years old. This is the same for both men and women.
The decreased levels of collagen and elastin mean the plumpness of our skin begins to slacken, and volume decreases. Initially, visible changes are subtle.
If addressed early on, it’s much simpler to maintain the ‘apple’ of our cheeks or the fullness of our lips. Treatments at Cherrybank aim to create a natural look.
Dermal fillers can also create a more defined cheekbone or chin. It can also be used to widen the lips.
For already permanent lines, Anti-wrinkle injections are used as a first choice, but if the line has become severe, sometimes Dermal Filler is required to plump out lines that are visible even when the muscle is relaxed.
Dermal fillers are all FDA-approved, which means they have undergone rigorous clinical trials and have an excellent safety profile.
They are all made of hyaluronic acid, found in all living organisms and thus a natural product for treatment. Hyaluronic acid is a fine gel that binds elastin and collagen and absorbs up to 1,000 times its weight in water, which benefits the skin by adding moisture.
Dermal fillers last from 8- 12months, depending on the amount used and where injected. It is naturally broken down and absorbed by the body over this time.
Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance found in the human body that adds volume to the skin’s tissues. Injected into the skin below the epidermal layer during a quick 15-minute procedure, it fills the deep creases that begin below the skin’s surface.
The result is smooth and revitalised skin, with results that can last up to a year.
Robin was very unhappy with her thin lips, and she had been for years – especially her top lip. She had Juvederm dermal fillers in top and bottom lips.
